Each no dig patch comes with 4 inches of compost to get you going. By using minimal soil disturbance techniques we can over time increase our yields and improve the microbiome of the fields original soil. We also look to get regular deliveries of manure to help top up your patches nutrient contents.

We're super happy to offer our members a fantastic range of seasonal plug plants that get delivered at the right time of year for planting out. If you're a beginner and mess up with seeds, then these are a great way to ensure a harvest.

There's more going on than a normal allotment, we have monthly talks, workshops and events including yoga! We host composting workshops, long table feasts, organic fertiliser making sessions, end of year growing festivals and much much more fun for you, friends and families!

There are water troughs placed within fair walking distance across our sites so you should never go more than 25-50 meters to get access to water to keep your patch thriving (when it doesn't rain).

When we came up with the idea of Roots, we knew we had to make it simple and fix the issue of alway carring around your tools, so we came up with the community tool shed and then everything is already on site. It comes piled high with dibbers, rakes, spaces, forks watering cans, wheel barrows and more.

We are located opposite Stourbridge Tennis club, just off Sugarloaf Lane. we have bike racks and parking for our members. You can now search us on Google maps.

The joining fee is to show your commitment to the soil, we give you this back upon leaving if you stay longer than 12 months. The joining fee is only for the monthly members, if you pay an annual fee we do not charge you a joining fee. You also get one month free if you pay a year in advance.

Its up to you, but you can spend as long as you want speaking to your local patch manager to ensure you are getting the best out of your patch and membership.

You can leave your tools at home, we provde everything you could ever need & if you do feel we are missing anything please do let us know we would look in to it immediately. We provide dibbers, spades, wheel barrows, watering cans, forks, rakes, edgers.

You cancel anytime in your members area, we just ask for 30 days notice, and you return the patch to normal and clear any of your tunnels or other materials remember someone else will be growing there after you.

We allow structures, they need to be under 6ft and we ask that you speak to us before installing one.  Poly tunnels are okay but we ask that you secure them well to the ground so that they do not blow in to other peoples patches. [On our first year at a site we don't allow poly tunnels until we understand the conditions of the area this is to ensure we don't get loads flying off into roads or damaging the local environment.]

Yes we are a strictly chemical free site and actively encourage and teach growers how to make natural fertilisers and natural pest detterents

We often partner with local or relevant communities and organisations, this is dependent on the capacity of the team and the partnership you are looking to set up. Please email info@rootsallotments.com to enquire.

On all of our sites we have bike parking racks where you can lock your bikes up whilst you’re on site. Please note that your bicycles will be left at your own risk.

We offer on site in person workshops as well as virtual online courses and lessons which you can look through in your own time.

On all our sites we have running water that you can use from the troughs around the site. However, this is strictly not for drinking, please make sure you bring drinking water along with you.

Bees cannot be kept directly on your patch, however we can find a space for you on site to keep your bees. These must be strictly native bees.

We do not sell seeds, we only give out seeds to our members for free as part of their subscription. There are plenty of great organic seed providers such as Tamar Organics, Vital Seeds and Earth Song Seeds.

Yes we offer one off visits if that is preferable, we do also giveaway patches to local schools and community groups. Please contact info@rootsallotments.com to enquire about a visit or patch.

No dig is the principle of using a cardboard layer covered in compost to suppress weeds and plants on the surface but keep the microbial allies in the soil alive, read more about it here www.rootsallotments.com/why-no-dig

Yes you are welcome to go and look around the site before signing up, if you want to speak with the patch manager at your visit, please email info@rootsallotments.com to organise this.
