MEET YOUR PATCH MANAGER!

John Bray

Hey, John Bray here! I've been a Roots patch holder for nine months since September 2024 in South Sheffield, and I'm really excited to be working as part of the Roots mission to get people growing in North Sheffield. Having spent 20 years in education and another decade supporting schools to create experiential learning, I've seen firsthand the confidence and enjoyment that stems from successfully bringing a space to life.I've met so many amazing plot holders in South Sheffield who were thrilled to finally get their own plot of land, to grow their own food, and take some control of their diet. The best part about it all is that it's fun and completely OK to make mistakes. Trial and error is often the most important way to get to know your environment, understand what your soil is like, and discover which plants will grow to their healthiest state in your specific conditions.I've been lucky to build an organisation around growing myself, and I'm really impressed by the effort put in by everyone at Roots to make the sites a success. I'm looking forward to meeting you and all of the people involved with your plot, and working together to build a fantastic community. See you soon.
