A great alternative to seaweed if you don't live near the seaside as it's readily available and grows all over the UK hedgerows. Join Mitch & Ed as they forage for Comfrey and give lots of advice about this wonderfully natural plant food!
There are many different types of Comfrey with different coloured flowers, when you are foraging be sure not to overpick one plant and take the leaves lowest down as they’ll be the biggest more established leaves.
Comfrey has super deep roots and all the nutrients are held in the leaves. With your bucket, pack down and fill it halfway so your fertiliser is super potent! To avoid getting weed seeds on your patch avoid picking the seeds as you don’t want these to transfer.
Then start chopping the leaves to speed up the process, then finish up by filling it with water 3/4 way up.
Once a week give it a stir and within 10-12 weeks this will be ready to use! Because of it's potency, take a cap full 50-100ml and put it into a full watering can then water on your patch!
