Mitch's Mini Pond
'Pond'ering on how else to boost biodiversity?! Mitch's most effective way to increase wildlife is a small pond on the patch.
It's a microenvironment, for birds, hedgehogs & amphibians, all of which devour slugs. It's also a fantastic place for insects to nest and lay creating a more diverse mix of pollinators on your patch.
If you don't have much space, you can opt for a small container like an old sink, or barrel, perhaps digging a small hole with a sustainable pond liner might be your style.
Water in the garden creates a cool & calm place to be. Think about bordering your pond with dead and decaying wood and inoculate these with culinary mushrooms for another harvest product!
The pond possibilities are endless!
