What Does Overwatering Look Like

You'll be happy to hear that one of the many benefits of the No Dig Method is needing to water much less than you’d imagine! In this lesson, Charles Dowding shares his experience watering his Market Garden, Homeacres, as an example.

Here it's August, Homeacres had a little rain over the summer & they haven't had to water for two months! Thinking of how we can conserve water, did you know that plants only really need a good drink when they are young and being planted in & then just a few top-ups of hydration.

All fruits & veggies are unique and will need different levels of watering but generally, plants have an incredible ability to adapt! You really do not need to water every day, you'll find that your plants will have more sweetness & ripen quicker if you water less.

Even anything under cover or in a warm polytunnel will only need water twice a week! The power of looking after our soil is unbelievably awesome!

TOP TIP: Plants also need air in the soil, pop your fingertips in the soil and only water again if it's very dry.
