Brassica Cage

When Brassicas take time to grow, we want to make sure the plants are protected.  A Brassica cage is beneficial for Summer and Winter growing and are easy to build yourself! Mitch & Ed show us how to make an easy, cost effective structure to protect  brocolli & kales for cabbage white butterflies and other patch pests.

Decide on an easy access point to get into your brassica cage where you can lift the netting on and off a little easier. Before the cage is totally finished, get your tent pegs and make sure there are no gaps.

Top Tip: Be sure to plant far enough away from the edge of the cage as butterflies will still fly onto any plant that touches the net and lay eggs on the leaves!
