Pricking Out

Are your windowsill seedlings ready to grow?! In this video, Ed will show you how to prick out seedlings when they are around two weeks old.

Bring along a pointy object like a pencil or a chopstick, to make a hole & to leverage the seedling up and out. You'll find if the soil is wet, the roots will slide out just fine!

Make a small hole in your fresh pot and gently poke the seedlings in the pot up to the first leaves. Turn their stems into roots, close them up, and add a bit more compost on top. Now your seedlings have a new home to grow big & strong!

Write your label so you don't forget what it is amongst all your other lovely plants. Pop them on a sunny window or outdoors if you can, in direct sunlight and definitely give them a good water!

Top Tip: Potting out can be overwhelming when you have lots of seedlings! Treat this as a meditative experience, take your time, handling the plants with care and intention.
