Your seedlings will tell you if you’re not growing in adequate conditions. You may find that you get leggy seedlings! Ed shares his knowledge & shows us how to recover your seedlings that need a little extra love. Check out these Radish that need a new home!
One reason seedlings get 'leggy' is usually down to lack of sunlight which can happen depending on where you’re growing, and they reach tall to find light before fully developing their leaves.
Fill a pot with compost to about halfway way, leaving space for your seedlings and compost top-up. Pry them out delicately from your module tray, pulling by the leaf not the stem, then pot them as far down in the pot as they can go. Add on extra compost, taking up as much of the leggy stem as possible.
Give them a good watering then pop them outside, if you’re planting straight out, plant up to the first leaf.
