Cornflower
Mitch talks about one of his favourite bursts of colour in the garden, Cornflower!
A fantastic pollinator, the bees and other insects absolutely love cornflowers, so it's a super idea to add them to your patch!
They can be harvested for beautiful floral arrangements but the flowers can also be picked and dried for tea as a natural remedy for digestion. To harvest simply snap the brittle stems by hand, close to the earth.
They can be sown early, to get a head start in spring. If you don't harvest all, they are self-seeding flowers, and the seeds also provide fantastic forage for birds such as the Gold Finch.
The classic cornflowers are blue but also have varieties in so many gorgeous colours, pinks, purples & even black.
