Poppies
Poppies! They add a timeless beauty to your patch, growing tall and attracting pollinators, once flowering, they last a few days but are packed full of pollen & nectar!
Kate's next lesson shows you why you might like to grow poppies this year and why it's a great flower to inter-sow with other crops!
They are annual flowers that self-seed. 'Deadhead' the plant to give way for new flowers by snipping them & pop pop them in the compost.
Are the old seed pods dry and rattling? Lots of the tiny seeds are ready to harvest. Why not share some with your friends?
TOP TIP: If you are looking to cut them for a bouquet before they've flowered as a more neutral tone in your bouquet, do so at soil level, undisturbing the microbes underneath.
