Introduction to Planting and Spacing

Charles Dowding introduces us to the importance of spacings and planting out!

How your plants are spaced makes a big difference to how they grow. If they're too close, they crowd each other out but if the spacing is too wide, you are wasting space. There is a sweet spot for spacing which will differ due to the time of year and what you'd like to achieve from the plant. Luckily,  Charles's wealth of knowledge on this subject will be shared in this course.

There's no right or wrong, but we need to pay attention to each vegetable's unique requirements. For example, carrots can be thinned out and you can enjoy harvesting bigger ones, giving room for the smaller ones to grow more.

TOP TIP: Tomatoes get really tall, so 'pinching out' side-shoots, gives more energy for height, and fruiting whilst also creating important airflow to the rest of the plant.
