It's time to say goodbye to your Coriander when you notice it goes to seed and the leaves change shape. In this lesson Kate shows us how to clear away this popular herb and gives advice on how to use this plant in all it's life-cyles.
The coriander plant is a wonderful companion, with it's strong scent detering pests. You'll have been harvesting in a cut-and-come-again way, but at various points in the season to will begin to flower.
It has beautiful wispy flowers, that look fab in flower arrangements. Within the flower heads are lots of seeds. You can save these seeds for planting again, or perhaps you'll add them to your spice rack! The seeds are zingy when green, or wonderfully aromatic once they've turned brown.
Kate harvests and clears while still caring for the soil below by simply snipping at the base of the plant. The roots will remain in the ground, using the No Dig method.
Food for Thought: Coriander is often thought of as a summer herb, pairing well with spicy food. In fact it's a frost hardy plant that prefers to grow in colder climates. A nice plant to grow over the colder months.
