Basil Harvesting

With sufficient warmth over the summer, you should be able to get a continuous harvest of this amazing herb. Charles will share with us how to get the most out of one Basil plant!

Harvest basil at least weekly, as well as picking it down to reduce the height & bush it out.

You could take off the whole stalk but it's better to harvest leaf by leaf to encourage new growth. Take a closer look and you'll see two new shoots either side of a leaf, by picking just the leaf you'll double the plant's growth!

Another way to make one plant last all summer is to take a side shoot, pop in a glass of water until you see little roots forming. Repot into compost, keep moist, and check out how easy it is to keep your basil going.

At the top of the plant where the leaf clusters are, it's starting to flower! It's going to seed, don't worry, just pinch them out, they are super delicious!
