We find Mitch in the garden with his Runner Beans today! This plant offers gorgeous flowers as well as tasty crops. This plant, growing tall on support structures, creates different dimensions for your patch design!
There are three times in which you can harvest and enjoy your beans:
When they are small & tender they're great fried or steamed or when they are bigger the beans are fully formed inside or leave them to fully mature on the plant and once crispy, harvest the pods to dry for food or seed.
Check out Charles Dowding's lesson for saving beans here: https://youtu.be/TuT9LTqUUsk
The best way to harvest is to start at the bottom and pick your way up to the top...
TOP TIP: Dwarf varieties can be sown in August so you are cropping late into the year!
